John T. Assini

John Assini is a Government Relations Associate at CJ Lake. His professional career spans several policy areas including health care, immigration, social security, transportation, labor, agriculture, taxes, energy, environment, public lands, and the federal budget. He served as Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) covering health care, social security, immigration, judiciary, housing, transportation, and labor.

During his time with Congressman Panetta, John worked with a bipartisan coalition of members and stakeholders in the House passage of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, which provided a path to citizenship for the nation's domestic undocumented farm workforce. He also worked on legislation to expand protections from deportation for U and T Visa applicants, increase oversight authority for HHS over our nation's hospice providers, expand funding for public health departments during the COVID-19 pandemic, and strengthen the FBI background check system for firearm purchases.

He started his career in Congress in 2011, first with the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Majority Staff under Chairs Bingaman, Wyden, and Landrieu, then with Senator Tammy Baldwin (WI) focusing on energy and the environment.

He holds a bachelor of arts from The George Washington University.
